Fingerboard re-glue and Neck Repair

Today we worked on a violin that came in with the fingerboard completely detached. After a closer inspection, we discovered that the neck had warped over time, which caused stress on the joint and eventually led to the fingerboard snapping off.
This type of repair requires more than simply gluing the fingerboard back in place. To ensure the repair is done correctly and lasts, we first addressed the warped neck by reinforcing and stabilizing it. Once the neck was properly strengthened, we were able to re-glue the fingerboard back to its correct position with proper alignment.
Structural repairs like this are critical for both playability and long term stability. Skipping steps or taking shortcuts can lead to recurring problems and further damage.
At Bosky Strings, we take the time to diagnose the root cause of an issue before making repairs. Our goal is not just to fix what’s visible, but to ensure the instrument is safe, stable, and comfortable to play for years to come.
